Birthday Boy

It was Alexander's birthday today, he's two. His party for his family was on Sunday (he'll have another one for his little friends later). He went out into the garden to play with the mega-bubble blowing machine and to say that he enjoyed running round after the bubbles is an understatement. He was manic!

Chasing bubbles

He was almost as excited by his birthday cakes. "Happy Birthday" is his favourite song and I lost count of how many times he shouted "more, more!" and we had to sing it again. We had to relight the candles loads of times too.

Loads of cake!
Of course at a little boy's birthday (and a little girl's too, I guess) the best bit is opening the presents. Unfortunately he opened what turned out to be the most interesting present first and couldn't be bothered with the rest. We had to hide "diggerland" for a while to get his attention onto the other gifts.

After that came an even bigger and better present, something for playing with sand and water in (a dangerous mix, especially indoors!) but which has a lid that doubles as a road system. Ideal for playing with those diggers he just got! And of course diggers being diggers means they don't have to stick to the actual roads, which was bad news for the "poorly dog" that got in digger's way. Luckily "amby" was on hand to take him to hospital!

Fascinating for children both big and small!

Party over, everyone went home, but not before we got a photo of the four best boys, Alexander, Me, Edward (re-christened "Harry" for some reason!) and Puddy.

It was a lovely party and I was totally stuffed full of cake!

Growing Up

AJ is growing up. Every time I blink he seems to be a little bit bigger. He's a proper little boy now, and it won't be long till he's driving cars and dating girls. He could do the latter now - he's a real lady's man and never fails to smile and make eyes at a pretty woman, the blonder thay are the better. His dad loves it.
He's great at walking and climbing. He'll be up and over the garden fence before you know it - if only he could negotiate that 1/2 inch "moat" between the grass and the path! That's a real stumbling block for him (literally). He has to sit down and swing his legs over it then get up again once at the other side. It's amazing considering that he can climb stairs, the steps to his slide, onto chairs and tables... and yet a 1/2 inch gap...
He'll probably have matsered that by the time I finish writing this, and then there'll be no holding him back.

Halloween

Alexander 31-10-2008 19-15-55

AJ had his first Halloween party today - a case of been there, done that, got the T-Shirt Bib.

He hasn't half grown since the last time I posted some pictures of him, some 5 months ago. It really is true that they grow up quickly, so quickly in fact that we daren't go more than a few days without seeing him for fear that he'll have got married and moved abroad since last we saw him!

Naturally all the usual suspects were at the party...

... and naturally there were scary cakes to eat. It was all too exciting for AJ and he was fast asleep before the night was very old.

8 Weeks Later

Good grief, where did the time go. It's almost two months since I last posted here which means that baby Alexander is eight weeks old now.

DSCF0756
As you can see from the photo he's quite relaxed in his uncle Steven's arms and I'm so relaxed with him that I can hold himand watch TV both at the same time!

DSCF0759
He's got his "duckling costume" on in this one. It could be the first and only time he wears it as he's growing so fast he's almost too big for it already!

DSCF0724
Here he is in his Jungle Gym, he already likes trying to bash the little animals (he'll have to stop that before he meets Charley!).

We go on holiday at the end of this week for two whole weeks. That's a fifth of Alexander's life! It's like someone going away on holiday for nine years of my life! I wonder how much he'll have changed when we get back.

Ten Tiny Fingers...

Baby_alexander_06042008_183554_2

SIL & BILG took delivery of their new baby boy today. Weighing in at 5lb 5oz he turned up a couple of weeks early, and yet still managed to have us all waiting. SIL went into hospital on Wednesday and not much happened at all until this morning and then suddenly it was all over. A beautiful baby boy, Alexander John.
Congratulations to them both from all of us.
