The Blind Side

We just watched The Blind Side. We enjoyed the film, it was quite a decent "Saturday night" kind of thing (even though it's Friday, it feels like a Saturday!), easy going, quite uplifting, not emotionally draining and you don't really have to concentrate hard while you watch it. The thing is, was it really an Oscar winning performance from Sandra Bullock? What was all that hype about?
I can't say that she overly impressed me. The role was quite undemanding, she didn't have to portray a lot of emotion or draw on anything from the depths of her soul. Her role was just... typical Sandra Bullock. If this deserved an Oscar then so did virtually anything else she did. I guess there must have been dearth of good female roles lately and this was deemed the best of the bunch. Let's hope for better things next year!
