It was a good decision to stay at the Chevin Country Lodge Hotel, it had a much nicer feel to it than a Travelodge/Premier Inn style of place and meant we really felt "on holiday" from the moment we arrived. Only a 3 minute taxi ride to the airport too, so very convenient. Explorations of grounds and facilities were made "for next time" and then wine was drunk on the sunny terrace overlooking the lake. Idyllic.
Dinner at Murgatroyd's was an experience. Limited choice for vegetarians (it's a fish & chip restaurant after all) meant we both went for veg lasagne with a side portion of chips each and mushy peas for me. Yes, I know that sounds a weird combination, but then so does their own choice of serving lasagne with both garlic bread AND bread & butter! It also came with side salad that would put some main courses to shame and the portions of chips & peas were enormouse. Seriously, one meal would have fed both of us, two meals just meant that stuff went to waste. Mental notes have been made for next time.
It was all very, very good though, with a very tasty and well crisped cheesy topping to the lasagne, delicious chips and the best mushy peas I've ever had. I don't do side salad though, not even one this size.
So off to bed, well and truly full. The only complaint would be the double bed. We don't do doubles. To us a double feels like a single - we're just too spoiled by the even-bigger-than-kingsize that we have at home. Not a great deal of sleep was had.
