Arrival In Paphos

Up bright and early for our flight, which was no hardship as we'd
barely slept anyway. 3 minutes to the airport, another 2 to baggage
drop, 3 more to pass security and the delights of Leeds Bradford
Airport early in the morning were very apparent - never had a quicker
transit from doors to airside. This left us loads of time for
breakfast for a change, instead of the frantic rushed affairs of our
last two holidays. So long in fact that I had 2 breakfasts, though
admittedly the second one was just a cookie, but they were an hour
apart.
What is it with LBA though? It's like they've grown capacity beyond
what the building can cope with. Departure gates have no seating,
queues for the gates file through the cafes, shops and foreign
exchange desks, and the whole thing is a bit of a melée. Still, we got
through OK, without anyone resorting to fisticuffs because of others
"trying to push in". Oh the joys of pre-booked seats versus the run-as-
fast-as-you-can approach of other budgets.
Only one word on the cabin crew. Om nom nom. Ok, so that's three
words. In flight breakfast was in flight breakfast - I always enjoy
them and this was no different. Top marks to them for bringing the
veggie meal straight to us, as opposed to Air Malta who lost them in
both directions.
We landed in Paphos to rain - a first - but it was still nice and
warm. Had a surprise at the car hire desk when handed the keys to a
Subaru Imprezza. Even more surprised to find it was an auto, never
having driven one before. I'm yet to remember there is no cluch and
continually screech to a halt at junctions when I'm only trying to
push the clutch in. An accident will occur soon, most likely wife
being propelled through the windscreen by the negative gees of the
excellent brakes.
Apartment is spot on, with everything you could need to live here, not
just holiday.
So that's it - a quick, and quite late, dinner at Pinguino and off to
bed to try to catch up on the sleep we missed last night. It's great
to be back.
