A Day Of Beaches

Glorious day today, so only one thought in our minds - Nissi Beach,
one of the lovliest beaches we've been to. We headed there straight
from breakfast and were probably on the beach by 10. The sand spit
joining the main beach to the island was under water (the sea must be
fuller these days) so we had to properly wade across.

We laid out our towels and got down to the business of topping up our
vitamin D reserves. I can never rest for long though, so we were soon
up and taking photos of the fabulous vista. The sand is so white and
the sea so turquoise here, you could easily imagine it being somewhere
more exotic. The small chapel on the beach and the plush gardens of
the Adams Beach Hotel add to the scenic splendour.

Something we've noticed before here is the way that some people (we
guess eastern European or Russian) pose for photos. They pose like
it's a professional model shoot, pulling exotic poses, heads thrown
back in dramatic fashion, reclining in the surf or draping over rocks.
Perhaps it's for their portfolio on ARussianBride.com, or just for
Facebook, but it's amusing to watch, whatever.

After a couple of hours there we moved on to Makronissos beach, a
couple of k further on. We arrived there, by chance, just in time to
watch the key part of The Royal Wedding - the bride arriving and the
service itself.

That over we hit the beach again. While wife relaxed in the sun I
strolled off to explore (there's a necropolis here somewhere) and
found a smaller, deserted beach just past a small outcrop. An hour or
so later, while I wandered off to get a takeaway lunch of Haloumi
Pitta (praise be that the Cypriots invented Haloumi), wife moved our
stuff round to the deserted beach. It was still deserted.

We ate our lunch on the rocks at the end of a pristine white sanded
beach by crystal clear waters with not another soul around. It was
perfect. Later I larked about, pulling "Russian" poses at the surfs
edge while wife took photos. She could barely take them, she was
laughing so much.

Our fun and frolics over for the day we headed back to the hotel,
where we had originally planned to lounge by the pool, but now we had
a plan B...
