The Limassol Coast - Governor's Beach

If Zygi was strange, Governor's Beach was not much less so. A network of minor roads crisscross the hinterland behind the "beach", each leading to different areas which have their own clutches of yet more fish tavernas. Some of these are huge too, one having a range of seating that went from fully indoors (like 50' back) through covered terrace, open terrace to cute beachside decked areas. The beach itself at these areas was a bit scrappy and some of the tavernas had lawned areas with sunbeds on as an alternative.

We eventually found Governor's Beach proper, still backed by a huge fish taverna (Kalymnos) but having a pretty decent beach at the bottom of steep white cliffs. The sand was black sand, but very fine and clean, though the fact it was black meant it was about 50 degrees! It was too windy to stay long, the breeze whipping the sand into sandstorms that made it too uncomfortable.

We headed back to the car and set off for the fleshpots of the Limassol Tourist Strip...
