Meltemi

We moved on from Naxos to Tinos today. In fact we have been to 4i slands today, Naxos, Paros, Mykonos and Tinos. We had just enough time between boats on Paros to visit our favourite "transit lounge" - the harbourside cafe there that does fab coffee and pain au chocolate. Same waiter as two years ago too.
On Tinos the strength of the wind was really noticable. Cutely the Greek meteo uses beaufort scale for it's wind speeds whereas we seem to have switched entirely to using plain old mph. Must be their maritime heritage. Anyway, it's scale 5 today, which to me appears to be about 30mph, and 100% constant too, no gusting. It just feels weird and we had to abandon our afternoon beach session as we were getting sand blasted to death!
We dined at our usual spot in the Dolphin Square. We had Imam, courgette, 4 cheese saganaki and tomato keftedes. It was gorgeous and we spent 2 hours over it and the litre of local wine.
During this time 6 ferries were in and out and I was constantly up with my camera like an over excited scoolboy. Speedrunner looks fantastic and I can hardly wait for Monday. Well, except that it will mean we're leaving Tinos.
We had a look around the narrow backstreets of shops and cafes and it was a lively and lovely bustling atmosphere of local families mingling with what tourists there are (not that many).
Back in the hotel (absoluely FABULOUS by the way, the Vincenzo Family Hotel) I'm writing this and keeping one eye on an extremely inept England performance. I'm really glad I have better things to do.
