Sunset Beach

Naxos has more than its fair share of beach cafes. The strip along the
front at St George's beach has more than a dozen and as the sun begins
to set and the sunbathers leave the beach bars move right onto the
beach.
We planned to spend our last night on Naxos having dinner as the sun
went down and we chose the Flisvos Beach Club as our venue. Being the
last place along the strip there would be less people passing by and
spoiling the view or the ambience.
It worked out perfectly and we luckily managed to nab the last
unreserved table by the beach. Our meal of Spinach Ravioli and
Courgette & Mushroom Tagliatelle was delicious and in some ways the
perfect antidote to all of the Greek food we'd had the past few days.
Sunset was less spectacular than it could have been due to the haze on
the horizon, but no matter, it was still a perfect evening.
Dinner done we walked back to town along the length of the beach,
weighing up the other beach bars for next time we're here. A stop at
the Waffle House for 2 more delicious ice creams and then off to
Escoba for a final cocktail. Nice to be recognised on only our second
visit there, and the bowls of snacks with our cocktails just kept
coming. I was totally stuffed as we walked back to the hotel, this
time along the promenade rather than the bar strip. Beautiful.
So off to bed and ready for a pretty early start in the morning - on a
ferry when we'd normally just be waking up.
Farewell Naxos, we'll definitley be back.
