Piraeus

Make no mistake, Piraeus is no holiday resort. It's a suburb,
commercial centre and port and makes few overtures to the tourist.
That's not to say it makes no effort at all, most of the tavernas
around Zea Marina had menu boards out in English and there are a few
decent hotels. Ours, the Piraeus Dream is excellent, having very good
facilities (free wifi and free room safe), one of the nicest rooms
we've had in any Greek hotel and an ideal situation just 5 minutes
from the port.
We spent the afternoon just wandering around the marinas and popping
in here and there for frappés, beers and ultimately dinner. This was
as nice a meal as we've had anywhere. Fava, feta & honey pie, tomato
keftedes and stoufakia washed down by a beautiful house red, all right
by the water as the sun went down.
Tomorrow is a 7am ferry to Naxos, and since we've not really adjusted
to the timezone that's like a 5am start! We're thakful the room has
good aircon as it's at least 27 degrees right now!
