extensive ancient ruins. It's one of our favourite sites and you go
there as much for the views along the coast as you do for the ruins
themselves.
We took in the Amphitheatre, Agora, Temples and ancient mansions and
then fed the cats. Yes, the snack bar there sells pouches of cat food
so that you can feed the "strays" that live around the site. Naturally
these all congregate near the snack bar and all look pretty well fed
and in very good condition. They're quite a draw for children both
young and old!
After that we headed down to the beach. The sand down at Kurion
wouldn't win any prizes, being dark and quite pebbly, but the sea is
beautiful and the three beach tavernas very tempting. We had our
picnic of feta & cucumber pitas on the sand then hit one of the
tavernas for a coffee and hopefully some cake. No luck - getting cake
in Greek tavernas is very hit & miss, they seem almost to be a
breakfast item. Turn up after 12 and they're all sure to be gone.
We drove back through the British base at Episkopi, which was
interesting to see, and stopped off at a supermarket on our way into
Paphos to stock up on Flounes, cakes and Lebanese flatbreads - vital
for our culinary invention "the Greek breakfast wrap" (the flatbreads
that is, not all three things!).
So now just chillin' on the balcony again, wife buried in her book and
mr writing this. 7 St Georges for dinner tonight. A Paphos area
"must", it will be our 4th visit. Let's see if they've discovered any
new ways to serve vegetables since last we were there.
